The Rams are currently without their two main strikers, with Chris Martin and Darren Bent both injured.

Steve McClaren's side currently sit top of the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 65 points from 34 league games.

The loss of Bent and Martin could prove detrimental to the final and most crucial stage of the season for the Rams, however if the Rams manage to bring in an adequate replacement via the loan market, it might not affect them too much.

“We have spoken about the possibility of bringing in cover but the options are very limited at this stage,” said Derby County first team

coach Paul Simpson to the Derby Telegraph.

“We are considering it and making phone calls.”

Derby suffered a surprise defeat at Craven Cottage last Saturday in a 2-0 defeat to Kit Symons' Fulham.

Goals from Nikolay Bodurov and Cauley Woodrow sealed the three points for the London club, subsequently handing Derby's first defeat since January 17.

Speaking after the game, Derby County boss Steve McClaren said to BBC Sport:

"It's a long season and we have been playing at a high level for the majority of it, that is why we are where we are.

"But we came up against a Fulham team who looked at their league position and knew they needed a result. What were they, fifth from bottom, with the quality they have?

"They are a Premier League side - just come down - with Premier League players. They defended for their lives and credit to them. They deserved to win and we would not have scored if played until Tuesday
