Derby County are set to confirm the exits of Scott Carson and Florian Jozefzoon when their retained list is published, according to the Derby Telegraph.
EFL clubs are required to publish their retained list at the end of each season, clarifying which players will be staying at the club and which will be departing – with the Rams one of few Championship sides yet to do so.
Derby supporters will likely be waiting keenly for this year’s list, with the future of a number of senior players up in the air.
The Derby Telegraph has indicated that the East Midlands club will confirm the departures of Carson and Jozefzoon when it is published.
The duo have both spent the season on loan away from Pride Park and with their contracts expiring this summer, it is understood they will be leaving the club.
Scott Malone’s departure will also be confirmed, though Millwall have already announced that he is set to join them on a free transfer after impressing on loan this term.
Carson joined the Rams from Wigan in 2015 and will leave with 171 appearances to his name, though he has spent the past two seasons on loan at Manchester City.
Having joined from Brentford in 2018, Jozefzoon has struggled to make much of an impact for Derby and was sent to Rotherham United for the 2020/21 campaign.
21 things every Derby County fan should know about their club, so can you score 100% on this?
This should come as no huge surprise to Derby supporters, given that both players have spent the season out on loan.
Carson’s departure has been expected for some time but he will leave having proven a fantastic servant to the club in his early years at Pride Park.
Jozefzoon, on the other hand, has never quite found his feet at the East Midlands club and supporters will be relieved to have him off the wage bill.
They’ll likely be happy to see the confirmation that both players are departing, though there are others whose future they’ll be more desperate to discover.
