Derby County boss Frank Lampard has revealed that Jack Marriott has recovered from his injury that kept him out of the win over Swansea.

The Rams manager told the club's media that the former Peterborough man is in contention to face Wigan this weekend after getting through a training session today.

Marriott, who has scored five league goals this season, has been in excellent form in the past few months, establishing himself as the number one striker at Pride Park.

However, he was forced to sit out the 2-1 victory against the Welsh side after picking up a knock following the defeat at Stoke.

Experienced forward Dave Nugent replaced Marriott last time out and, whilst he didn't get on the scoresheet, he played his part in an impressive win.

Therefore, Lampard will have a decision to make this weekend, with Martyn Waghorn another potential option against his former club, although he only has one league goal to his name this season.

Derby are currently seventh in the Championship, sitting outside the play-offs on goal difference ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

The Verdict

This is good news for Derby as Marriott is a very important player and gives them a good option when he leads the line.

As well as that, he has been in good form on the whole recently and will be confident of making his mark against Paul Cook's side.

Whether he gets a start or has to begin on the bench, Lampard will be delighted to call on Marriott this weekend.
