Bristol City have made a move for Derby County forward Andreas Wiemann, according to Alan Nixon.

The respected Sun journalist has made the claim today via his Twitter account, confirming that the Robins have indeed made a move for the former Aston Villa man, and that a deal could not be far away from completion.

Weimann, who became a key member of the Rams' squad last season following his move to Pride Park from the Villa, is not seen as someone who is indespensible to proceedings by new manager Frank Lampard, and a move could well be completed in the coming days.

The pacey forward, who can play either wing and down the middle, will no doubt be keen to get himself a move if he is indeed not wanted by the Rams and Lampard.

Nixon's claim for the move is backed up by the Daily Star, who claim that a £2m deal has been agreed for the Derby man.

Weimann managed only nine goals during his time with the Rams and was moved out to Wolves for the second half of last season. The Austrian, still only 26, will no doubt be keen to make an impression at Ashton Gate under Robins manager Lee Johnson.
