Derby County are set to move for Hull City's Kamil Grosicki, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Wednesday 30th May, 13:02].

Grosicki's future is up in the air at the moment and Derby could be set to take advantage of that by reigniting their January interest in the winger and launching a summer bid.

The Poland international is currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup in Russia this summer and he has admitted that he does not know where he will be next year.

The Hull Daily Mail are reporting that Grosicki said: “I have no idea what will happen after the World Cup, but I’m very optimistic. I’m not thinking ‘OK, I have to perform very well, because I want to change club’.

"I just want to play well for my country, that’s it. I talked to Hull’s chairman, and we agreed than now I’m focused only on the World Cup and then we will see.”

Grosicki has a contract at the KCOM Stadium until summer 2020 but he fell out of favour under Nigel Adkins and Hull would listen to offers, if they can recoup the £7m they spent on him in January 2016.

The 29-year-old, who turns 30 next week, hit nine goals and five assists for the Tigers this season but Hull could still let him go with the World Cup thought to be an opportunity for him to put himself in the shop window.

Derby could now swoop as they aim to bolster their attacking midfield options after losing in the play-off semi-finals.

The Verdict

Grosicki is clearly a talented winger who can offer goals and assists at this level if he can find his consistency.

Hull should try to keep him but he would certainly improve Derby's options out wide if they do manage to lure him to Pride Park.

But given their financial restrictions, I cannot see Mel Morris bankrolling a big money move for Grosicki and this could be a stumbling block unless a loan deal is worked out or unless the Rams lose a major player like Tom Lawrence or Matej Vydra.
