Derby County ready to battle Rangers for Scotland international

Derby County are readying a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Grant Hanley this summer, according to the Sun (via HITC Sport.)

The Rams are reportedly interested in bringing the Scottish international defender to the iPro Stadium as yet another promotion bid crumbles into dust.

They were soundly beaten 3-0 at home to Hull City over the course of the weekend in their playoff semi-final and face an extremely difficult task to turn that tie around.

While the likes of Richard Keogh and Jason Shackell have been mainstays for the club in the heart of defence this term, the options after that pair begin to look a little light.

It is claimed that technical advisor Harry Redknapp has recommend the club make a £2.5m bid for the 24-year old in the coming months.

While has remained loyal to the Ewood Park outfit for a number of years, the fact that their Premier League parachute payments are set to expire this season could open up the possibility of a sale.

Scottish giants Rangers were also believed to be interested in the defender, whose proved to be one of the most formidable in the Championship over the past few years.

The Gers are embarking on an ambitious recruitment drive, having already landed Liverpool starlet Jordan Rossiter and are in talks with Burnley midfielder Joey Barton.

Would Hanley be an upgrade on the current defensive options at Derby County?
