Derby County could make a January move for Dundee United defender Jamie Robson, according to the Derby Telegraph via a report in the Scottish Sun.

The 19-year-old has gone on to make over 70 appearances for the Tangerines as he has established himself as one of the top young players north of the border over the last two seasons.

His form has caught the attention of plenty of onlooking managers, and it now appears that Derby gaffer Gary Rowett is ready to test Dundee's resolve and lodge a bid in the region of £100,000 for the teenager.

Robson will be hard pushed to turn down a move to the Championship should the Rams come knocking, and Derby have a rich history of bringing in players from the Scottish leagues, with the likes of Johnny Russell and Craig Bryson both going on to have excellent careers at Pride Park.

Derby have begun the season in inconsistent fashion but were putting together a good run of form prior to a shock home loss to last season's playoff finalists Reading. Rams manager Rowett will be hoping to add some new names in the January window and will no doubt see Robson as the ideal sort of talent he can add to his squad.
