Speaking to the Derby County’s official website following their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, David Nugent has admitted his side need to “kill teams off” after failing to hold onto their lead at the City Ground.

Goals from Matej Vydra and Nugent had cancelled out Zach Clough’s first-half strike, to seemingly be sending Gary Rowett’s side to victory in his first-game in-charge of the Rams.

Daniel Pinillos struck in late injury-time to deny Rowett victory, leaving Nugent and his teammates disappointed after an impressive second-half performance.

Reflecting on Pinillos’ late goal, Nugent said: “We need to kill teams off. At 2-1, we had the chances to score more goals, but in the end, the signs were there.

“They hit the post and they had a corner in the last-minute, which they scored from. We have to stop conceding silly goals from set plays.”

Saturday’s result continues Derby’s poor run of form, which has seen them pick up just one victory in their last ten Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

With just eight fixtures of the Championship season remaining, it is highly unlikely Rowett’s side will challenge for a place in the Play-Offs, as they trail sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday by nine-points.
