Tom Huddlestone admits that his future at Derby County is uncertain, as the midfielder enters the final month of his current contract at Pride Park.

Rams boss Phillip Cocu has a number of big decisions to make on the futures of some of his players next month, with the likes of Huddlestone, Chris Martin and Ikechi Anya all out of contract.

The Athletic has recently claimed that Martin is likely to leave Pride Park despite scoring 10 goals this season, and having failed to play in over two years, Anya is also likely to depart Pride Park.

Have these 15 Derby players been capped at senior international level?

33-year-old Huddlestone has been in and out of the team due to injury this season, and he was given the captaincy following Richard Keogh's season-ending injury back in September.

The experienced midfielder has made only 11 appearances in the Championship this term, and it remains to be seen whether the veteran midfielder's deal is extended by the East Midlands club.

Speaking to the Counter Attack podcast, Huddlestone - who hasn't played in the league since October - has admitted that his future at Pride Park is uncertain.

He said: "I don’t know, to be fair. My contract is up at the end of June, so I don’t even know what I’ll be doing this season, but I’m sure it will all be sorted.

"Ideally [I’d stay at Derby]. But obviously, with the finances of clubs, I don’t know if they will be able to offer contracts. We’ll just wait and see.

"I’m feeling good and know, with the way I play, I've got another two or three years at this level at least. Hopefully whatever gets sorted, I’ll be playing next season, wherever that may be."

Derby sit five points off the play-offs ahead of the final nine games of the season, whenever they may be played.

The Verdict

Huddlestone is a hugely experienced professional who must be good to have around the team, but I think it would be best for him to leave this summer.

The Rams have so much talent in the middle of the park, and with Krystian Bielik still set to return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, that will add even more competition to the team.

Huddlestone isn't getting any younger, and I think it would be best to part ways this summer.
