A massive revamp is needed at Pride Park this summer if they are to guarantee any sort of success next season, as Gary Rowett has all sorts of problems to sort out during this period.

The Rams arguably have a large amount of 'dead wood' in their squad, alongside several injury prone players, who need to be shifted to ensure the finances are there for transfer business to be completed before the new campaign.

One area that would bring confidence to a team is a solid back line, however, that will only be done by reinforcing the current defence as the crop of footballers at Derby County are in no shape to improve, themselves.

Rowett should dive into the transfer window to add to his weak side, which won't harm his personal ambitions and the club's at all in the 2017/18 season.

Here are TWO defenders Derby must sign during the summer.....

Andre Wisdom

The 24-year-old wouldn't be an unknown arrival to Derby County if they did end up acquiring his services having spent a loan spell at the club in the 2013/14 campaign.

Andre Wisdom is likely to be sold by Liverpool this summer after struggling to break into the first-team and subsequently was shipped out on loan to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

The Rams definitely need a new right-back and Wisdom would not only fill the void, but improve it for their Championship play-off push next season.

Grant Hanley

Grant Hanley has only made a handful of appearances for Newcastle United since signing for the Magpies last summer from Blackburn Rovers, featuring in a measly ten league matches for Rafa Benitez's side.

The Scotland defender has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at St. James' Park and their promotion may prompt a move away from Tyneside in search for first-team football.

There's been talk of Hanley arriving at Pride Park and it isn't of the question, for a solid centre-half then this man is the ideal candidate to strengthen the defence and must be signed up during the summer transfer window.

Derby County supporters, does your defence need strengthening? Would you welcome these two? Let us hear your thoughts in the comment section below!
