Derby County striker Cameron Jerome is adamant the Rams can win promotion to the Premier League despite what the critics think.

The East Midlands side have gained a reputation as chokers over the years after several failed attempts at winning promotion to the top-flight.

Many thought history was repeating itself this season however the Rams have picked up four points from games against Cardiff and Aston Villa, to ensure they only need a point at home to Barnsley to guarantee a top six finish on Sunday.

And, Jerome thinks the experience in Gary Rowett's squad could see the side have a very successful end to the campaign.

"We've got plenty of experience in the squad and, hopefully, that should pull us through," he told the Derby Telegraph.

"The experience we've got could be crucial and, if we get into the play-offs, that should stand us in good stead. It's not just myself. You look throughout the squad and probably everyone has had a crack at the play-offs, and a lot have been successful in the play-offs."

The Verdict

Derby do have a very experienced squad and so the pressure of the play-offs won't surprise them should they make it.

However, Villa, Boro and Fulham all have experienced players too, so you can't really say it gives Derby an advantage.

What will please everyone connected with the club is their recent displays. They've shown against Cardiff and Villa they can compete with sides above them and that should give them belief.
