Derby County defender Chris Baird has told the Derby Telegraph that he is 'relaxed' over his contract situation.

The Northern Ireland international's contract expires in the summer, after joining on a free transfer from West Bromwich Albion in 2015.

Speaking about his contract situation, Baird said:  "I am easy going, I am relaxed about the situation.

"I am playing at the minute. I think I have had a reasonably good season so far. I have enjoyed the games I have played in and I am looking forward to the games ahead, if picked.

Baird has 37 league matches under his belt for Derby, 23 of those coming this season as he has been a more regular face in the Rams line-up.

After an injury to first choice right back Cyrus Christie, Baird was installed into the team and has shown some real quality when called upon.

Chris Baird is a highly experienced professional, playing at Premier League level for both Fulham and West Brom, as well as appearing for an array of Football League clubs including Reading, Walsall and the likes of Burnley and Watford before they gained promotion to the top flight.

Baird also represented Northern Ireland at Euro 2016 in the summer, helping them reach the Round of 16.
