Derby County are on the brink of discovering their promotion fate with their Championship play-off final against Aston Villa fast approaching.
The Rams head to Wembley on Monday afternoon with the aim of securing their Premier League place for next season after seeing off Leeds United in the play-off semi-finals.
This would cap off a successful first season in management for Frank Lampard, who has delivered positive results with his youthful Rams squad.
Lampard’s success at Pride Park has led to reports that he could be in line to replace Maurizio Sarri at former club Chelsea next season, according to Sport Mediaset.
Sarri has secured a third-placed finish and two cup finals for the Blues this season, but this has not stopped speculation that he could be shown the Stamford Bridge exit over the summer.
Derby owner Mel Morris has now responded to claims that Lampard could be heading back to London, claiming there has not yet been an approach from Chelsea.
#dcfc owner says he will fight to keep Frank Lampard next season, whether the club is promoted or not on Monday.
Mel Morris says there has been no approach from #cfc but he does expect the club’s all-time leading scorer to manage at Stamford Bridge in the future. See #ssn

He told Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett that he will “fight” to keep Lampard at the club regardless of their play-off fate, but he does expect Lampard to manage his former employers eventually.
Lampard enjoyed a glowing career in Chelsea, with his 211 goals in 648 making him the club’s all-time leading scorer.
Morris is evidently willing to battle for Lampard’s services next season, but he also remains realistic that this may not be possible.
Lampard has already demonstrated his managerial qualities at this early point in his career, and he has all the traits to make a successful boss for many years to come.
Derby will be hoping they can maintain his services for at least another couple of seasons, as he has laid solid foundations during his first campaign with the Rams.
