Derby County make contact with former Premier League manager

Derby County have made initial contact with ex-Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson about taking over the club in the summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett.

The former Hull, Southampton and most recently Leicester City manager has been out of working since leaving the Foxes at the end of last season, after guiding them to safety in the Premier League.

Derby are without a permanent manager after the surprise sacking of Paul Clement last week, which shocked many in the league.

County chairman Mel Morris explained his reasons behind the sacking, outlining different visions for the club between manager and Chairman ultimately costing Clement his job.

Morris explained that promotion was not the ultimate aim this season, a statement which is likely to confuse Derby fans further.

Pearson led Leicester to promotion first from League One, then to the Premier League and had built a solid team before being replaced by Claudio Ranieri.

It would mark a return to management after a year out for the former player, who enjoyed long playing spells at Shrewsbury, Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesbrough.

Derby fans, what do you think to this news? Who do you want to take over from Clement? Would you have Pearson? Let us know using the comments below!
