Derby County are the latest club to be linked with Ipswich Town frontman Martyn Waghorn, according to TWTD.

The 28-year-old netted 16 times in the Championship for the Tractor Boys last season, and is one of the second tier's most lethal strikers.

The forward cost the Suffolk side a minimal fee after a successful time at Rangers, and he is now seemingly on Frank Lampard's radar.

The striker impressed the Portman Road faithful with his work rate, ability to make runs and cool finishing.

Waghorn has been linked with several clubs, with arch rivals Nottingham Forest having been linked with the forward in this window.

With Matej Vydra quite possibly on his way out of the East Midlands club for the right price, this move might indicate Lampard's belief that the Czech star is on his way out.

The Verdict:

A good player, but not a replacement for Vydra.

Waghorn had a good season last season, with 16 goals, his best ever Championship return.

However, the striker is not normally that prolific and it might have been a one-season wonder in Suffolk.

His previous best return was 12 Championship goals for Leicester City in 2009/10.

If Derby County are serious about promotion, Waghorn should be seen more as a handy addition than a man to pin their hopes on.
