Derby County are interested in taking Liverpool bound defender Joe Gomez on loan, reports HITC Sport.
According to the Daily Mail, County are looking to take the highly-rated England Under-19 international on a season-long loan once he completes his £3.5 million move from Charlton Athletic, which is expected to be imminent.
The Addicks are also hoping the Reds will allow the 18-year-old to return to The Valley on loan, but the Premier League side activated a release clause in Gomez’s contract, meaning Charlton are powerless to strike such a deal.
Brendan Rodgers in planning on adding the defender to the club’s pre-season tour next month and is prepared to give him a chance to break into the first-team next season.
If Rodgers allows Gomez to go out on loan, it appears Derby would be the favourites after the way they handled Andre Wisdom and Jordan Ibe who had loan spells at the East Midlands side in the past.
