Derby County are in discussions with Rotherham United over a potential loan deal that will see Florian Jozefzoon join The Millers.

The Dutch wide man signed for the Rams from Brentford in the summer of 2018 and there was a lot of excitement about his arrival at the time.

However, for whatever reason, things just haven't worked out for the 29-year-old in the East Midlands. Jozefzoon managed just two goals in 28 games in his first campaign before making just 14 appearances last season, where he failed to score and registered one assist.

As a result, he hasn't been involved for one match day squad this season and he clearly isn't in Phillip Cocu's plans following the signings of Jordon Ibe and Kamil Jozwiak.

So, a move would make sense and Football Insider confirmed this afternoon that Rotherham are hoping to secure a deal for the ex-PSV winger that will see him sign for the rest of the season.

Any deal involving the player will have to be completed by the 5pm deadline on Friday for domestic transfers.

The verdict

Jozefzoon has been a pretty disastrous signing by Derby and Cocu obviously doesn't rate the wide man so you would expect this move to go through if he wants to join Rotherham.

Given his age, the winger should still have a lot to offer at this level and the chance to impress and play regularly for Paul Warne's side may be exactly what he needs.

It seems a deal that suits all parties and it will be interesting to see if any other club tries to land Jozefzoon before Friday.
