Derby County in talks regarding deal for defender

Published

on

Derby County defender Raul Albentosa is on the verge of leaving the club for Spanish side Malaga, according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams are in negotiations with the Spanish side for Albentosa, who spent last season on loan with Malaga.

A fee of around £930,000 had been pre-agreed between the two teams during the time of the loan deal.

Albentosa proved to be a big hit in La Liga and helped played a key role in the club’s 8th place finish.

His season-long loan saw him play 31 games and score two goals as they finished eighth in La Liga. One of his goals came in a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid.

The defender signed for Derby from Eibar back in January 2015 and found it hard to settle in England.

The deal has hit a slight halt due to Malaga insisting that they want a reduced fee for the defender, but the deal is expected to be completed at the end of the week.

Derby fans… Is this the right decision for Albentosa to leave? Why do you think he couldn’t fit into the life in England? Let us know in your thoughts and opinions below!
