Frank Lampard is looking to bring Mason Mount to Derby County this summer, having held talk with Chelsea over a possible loan move for the talented midfielder.

According to John Percy from the Telegraph, Mount is on Lampard’s radar, with the new Derby boss looking to bring the 19-year-old to the Sky Bet Championship on-loan ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Lampard has held talks with Chelsea over Mount, who is one of a number of talented youngsters on the books at Stamford Bridge, but the Rams face competition in the race to secure his signature.

Mount, who operates as an attacking midfielder, is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues, but impressed last season whilst out on-loan with Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The 19-year-old featured in the Eredivisie and Europa League, making a total of 38 appearances across all competitions for Vitesse.

In those appearances, Mount scored 14 goals and registered a further 10 assists for the Dutch outfit, enhancing his reputation.

The attacking midfielder is also an England under-19 international, having previously represented his country at various age groups from under-16 onwards.

The Verdict

Mount’s an exciting talent, who really excelled last season in the Eredivisie.

Of course, the Championship will be tougher, but Mount showed attributes that will help him to thrive.

Lampard could be the man to help him adapt to the Championship, with his potential arrival really exciting for the Rams.

This is the type of deal that Derby’s supporters will be desperate to see Lampard completing.
