Derby County have hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Fenerbahce forward Ferdi Kadioglu, as both teams struggle to agree on a fee for the 20-year-old according to Turkish media outlet Fotospor.

The report claims that Derby value the Dutchman in the region of £4.5m, whilst Fenerbahce are said to be holding out for a fee of £13.6m, so there is clearly some work for the Rams to do if they wanted to land his signature in the summer.

Kadioglu has made 23 appearances this season for the Turkish giants, who currently sit seventh in the Super Lig. It appears as though his impressive performances haven't gone unnoticed though, with Derby being long-term admirers of his services. Kadioglu has four goals and three assists to his name in all competitions this term as well.

A move to Derby could be a tempting proposition for Kadioglu as well, with the Rams showing glimpses of their quality in the Championship this season.

Phillip Cocu's side are currently sat 12th in the second tier standings, and will be hoping they can finish this year's campaign strongly heading into their final nine games of the season.

They are also only five points adrift of the play-off positions, and the potential prospect of playing Premier League football next season would certainly tempt Kadioglu into a move to the Rams.

However, due to recent events, Derby's next game isn't scheduled until the 2nd May, when they're set to take on Birmingham City, although that match could be pushed further back if the off-the-field situation is to worsen.

The Verdict:

This certainly won't be the last we hear of this potential deal.

Kadioglu is clearly a player that Derby are keen to sign after their previous links with him earlier in the season. But it seems as though any potential move is still some way off, with both teams struggling to reach an agreement over a fee for the player.

Due to recent events, it remains to be seen as to what will happen with the summer transfer window, and that could delay the forward's arrival.

He would be a gamble for the Rams though, as he doesn't have any experience of playing in English football, which always makes this type of signing a risky one.
