Derby County have had three bids for Jack Marriott rejected by Peterborough United, according to Peterborough Today.

Frank Lampard is looking to bolster his squad ahead of the new season and is looking for a striker with Matej Vydra’s future at Pride Park uncertain amidst intense interest from Leeds and West Brom.

Marriott, 23, scored 33 goals in all competitions for Peterbourhg last season and it is reported he is also that at least eight clubs have expressed an interest in the player, according to Bristol Live.

Derby, however, have made an offer for the forward according to Peterborough Owner Darragh McAnthony.

The Posh’s chairman revealed the club had turned down three bids from the Rams for the sought-after striker.

“Derby have made three bids for Jack and we’ve turned them all down,” McAnthony said. “The bids involved slightly different offers and we’ve told Jack about them all

“We have a valuation of a 23-year-old, lightning-fast striker who won the League One Golden Boot last season.”

Losing Marriott would be a huge blow to Peterborough’s promotion hopes with Derby in hot pursuit for the League One Golden Boot winner.

The Verdict

Peterborough are doing well to hold firm and rebuff any approaches for their top-goalscorer.

Eventually, that pressure will toll and Marriott will be out the door.

Derby looks the perfect new home for the 23-year-old who is a young inventive striker that will give Frank Lampard a different option.

He is the perfect replacement for Matej Vydra should eventually leave the club.

With Mason Mount and Harry Wilson on board, Lampard is contracting a young vibrant side and Marriott would be the perfect cherry on the cake.
