Derby County's Champions League winning goalkeeper, Scott Carson, has urged his side to improve their home form and make the iPro Stadium a fortress ahead of Saturday's clash with Brentford.

The Rams have failed to win at home in four attempts in the Sky Bet Championship so far this campaign, drawing three times.

Carson signed for Derby County this summer from Wigan Athletic, speaking about his experience in the second tier, the 30- year-old told Rams Player HD: "The Championship has always been a difficult league to get out of and it’s a division where it doesn’t really matter how much quality that you have got, the key is that you have got to stick together.

It’s about doing the harder work rather just playing the football. There’s a lot of sides, as we have seen already, that are working hard and they might not have the quality that we have, but they are working just as hard to try and wear us down."

The veteran goalkeeper has faith in his squad however, he continued: "The strength in depth that we have got in our squad is a big advantage in a division like this. We had quality players coming off the bench, players that would be starting in most Championship sides without a doubt.

To look across and see the likes of Darren Bent and Jeff Hendrick gives you a massive confidence boost even though we hadn’t been at our best."

"We know that’s going to be difficult so getting that first home win and turning the iPro Stadium into a bit of a fortress is our main objective. We need to picking most of our points up at home."

The Rams are currently ninth in the Sky Bet Championship table, despite their 3-1 away win against MK Dons last weekend.

Saturday's visitors Brentford sit in 19th and have only won once on the road so far this campaign.

Derby County manager Paul Clement will undoubtedly be eager to stretch his unbeaten streak in the Championship to five games on Saturday, and subsequently propel themselves into a play-off spot in the division.
