Derby County update emerges in regards to takeover bids

Published

on

Derby County and the club’s fans will be pleased to hear that there has been another step in the right direction in regards to fresh owners at Pride Park today, as Alan Nixon and Derbyshire Live are reporting that there are certainly several people interested in taking over at the club.

The administrators at the club have been keeping an eye out for prospective new buyers who can drag the Rams out of the mire and try and sort the side out before the turn of the new year – and it looks like there are several good potential outlets for them to explore in this respect.

There are no concrete bids yet and no definite in terms of people taking over yet but there does appear to be some solid interest from several sides.

Only a true expert on Derby County will get these 27 Rams quiz questions correct

1. Who was Derby's top scorer last season?

This comes from journalist Alan Nixon, who has claimed there are ‘three’ parties who have registered their interest and have the money to be able to launch an actual takeover bid.

It’s all great news for Derby fans then, who will no doubt be hoping that the situation can sort itself out sooner rather than later – and preferably before the next transfer window opens.

According to Derbyshire Live, there is a fair amount of interest in the club too – and it can only be a good thing if one of them can come to fruition.

They’re currently sat rock bottom of the Championship table, having been thrust into administration and deducted 12 points for doing so. Although the Rams are already on positive points, the club will have to work hard to claw it back and have had to turn to a number of youth players to help them do so.

If they can sort out their off-field issues soon – and one of these interested parties can launch an actual bid and takeover the club to pull them out of the mire – then it would be a huge boost to the Rams.

The Verdict

It’s good news then for Derby and the club’s fans. Although they wouldn’t want to be in this situation in the first place, they could be a lot worse in terms of trying to find a buyer it seems. With this reported interest from several people, it means that they might be able to get out of their financial troubles sooner rather than later.

Several clubs have been in this position though and I’m sure the Rams fans won’t be counting their chickens before they hatch in terms of a takeover.
