Derby County's Krystian Bielik is well on track with his recovery from ACL surgery and is expected to be back in training for pre-season and on the pitch in October, according to The Athletic.

The Poland international suffered a nasty, season-ending ligament injury while featuring for the Rams U23s against Tottenham Hotspur in January.

However, he revealed footage of himself back working in the gym on Instagram in late March and details have now been revealed about his recovery.

According to The Athletic, Bielik's operation was a success and his recovery is "well on track" as he continues to strengthen the muscles around the ligaments.

The report claims that the Rams are expecting their summer signing to be back in training in pre-season.

However, it is understood that he will not be participating in competitive games until October.

The 22-year-old joined Derby from Arsenal in the summer for a fee that could reportedly rise to £9.5 million with add-ons, making it a club record.

Bielik was a regular fixture in Phillip Cocu's side before his injury – making 20 Championship appearances and being utilised as both a central defender and a holding midfielder.

The Verdict

This is great news for Derby and should be music to the ears of fans of the East Midlands club.

The 22-year-old looks a really bright prospect and the injury he suffered seemed a nasty one.

However, it appears his recovery is going well and that he should be back ready to feature for the majority of next season.
