Derby County suffered a disappointing midweek result as they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom-of-the-table Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Tom Lawrence gave the Rams an early lead but they could not build on their advantage and were punished by Jon Nolan midway through the second half.

The result left them outside the top six, but only behind Middlesbrough on goal-difference.

They were handed another blow on Friday morning, however, when star attacker Harry Wilson all but confirmed that he would not be returning to the club next season.

Wilson arrived on a season-long loan from Liverpool in the summer and has been nothing short of outstanding, scoring 12 times and assisting four in 30 appearances.

But he admitted on Friday to the Daily Mail that he still wants to push on at his parent club and break into the first-team next season, leaving Lampard with some planning to do.

So, how should the Rams' faithful feel following this latest update?

Well, first of all, they should have seen it coming. Wilson arrived very at Pride Park highly-rated and is now even more highly-rated, so of course, he will be returning to Liverpool in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp still clearly rates him highly and the Anfield faithful remain hopeful of seeing him break into the first team soon as well.

Having it confirmed that your best player will only be with the club for a few more months is always going to be disappointing but they will have known it was inevitable.
