Derby County could be without Andrea Weimann and Kasey Palmer this weekend, with the attacking duo struggling with knocks.

Gary Rowett’s side face Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon for a crunch clash in the race to secure play-off football in the Sky Bet Championship.

Speaking to Derby’s official Twitter account (@dcfcofficial), Rowett has confirmed that both Weimann and Palmer have been struggling with knocks this week, leaving them in doubt for this weekend’s visit of Boro.

The attacking duo have contributed a combined total of seven goals and six assists this season, with Palmer in particular proving to be a real livewire since his January loan.

This weekend’s clash is a huge one for Derby, who have slipped out of the Championship’s top-six following a disappointing run of form.

Last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Burton Albion left Derby battling to work their way back into the play-off places, with Middlesbrough one team that the Rams have to catch in the coming weeks.

Boro head to the Pride Park Stadium in fifth, on a good run of form under Tony Pulis, who has helped to turn the club’s fortune around at a key stage of the season.

The Verdict

This weekend’s clash between Derby and Boro is a huge one, as both clubs are in the hunt to secure play-off football.

There is extra pressure on Derby at this stage, and Rowett will be frustrated if he is without Weimann and Palmer.

The attacking duo have the ability to change a game and their absence this weekend would be a real blow for the struggling Rams.
