Derby County are set to offer defender Craig Forsyth to Bristol City in exchange for Joe Bryan, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The deal would also involve a fee as Bryan is rated in excess of £3m, while 29-year old Forsyth cost the Rams £150,000 from Watford in 2013.

The Robins academy graduate Bryan has been attracting lots of interest this summer, with Leeds United also once interested in the 24-year old.

He made the leap to the first team four seasons ago and was named in the PFA League One Team of the Season, as well as their Young Player of the Season in their League One promotion campaign.  A year later he was awarded with the club’s Young Player of the Year award for a second year running.

Forsyth joined the Rams on loan from Watford initially, but earned a full time deal after impressing during his temporary stay. He's also featured for Dundee, Montrose and Arbroath and operates primarily at left-back , the same as Bryan.

The Verdict

Much will depend on the amount of money on offer here, if Derby are putting up £2.5m and the player then it might be sanctioned by Bristol City.

Anything lower than that and they'll likely hold on to Bryan, who is only going to improve with age. He's 24 now 229 senior appearances to his name for his hometown club.
