Derby County are now eyeing a move for Liam Bridcutt

The Scotland international arrived at the Stadium of Light in January 2014 for a fee of around £3 million, but has only made 27 appearances for the club since, and now seems to be surplus to requirements under manager Dick Advocaat.

Paul Clement's Derby County are eager to sign up a new midfielder on loan due to the injuries sustained by Will Hughes and Craig Bryson, and FLW have been informed by a club insider at Derby that the club have earmarked Liam Bridcutt as a potential loan addition.

Rams prodigy Will Hughes looks set for six months on the sidelines following a cruciate ligament injury, and this will be a major blow to the club's chances of an automatic promotion spot this season.

Reading-born Bridcutt is a competent midfielder at Championship level, having excelled during his time at Brighton and Hove Albion under Gus Poyet - he could provide that element of depth and steel that could enhance Derby's chances of getting back into the Premier League.
