Norwich and Derby are interested in taking Tottenham’s Alex Pritchard on a loan deal if, as expected, West Brom’s Saido Berahino completes his move to Tottenham in the coming days, according to the Derby Telegraph.

Derby are keen on a deal for Pritchard

Pritchard, who made the PFA Championship Team of the Year following his excellent loan spell at Brentford in the 2014/15 season, has yet to start for Tottenham this season despite signing a new long-term contract this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino may allow the 22-year-old to move on loan to gain further first-team experience at newly promoted Norwich or Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County, when an agreement is reached with West Brom over the transfer of the want-away Berahino.

Pritchard initially caught the eye following a successful loan spell at Swindon in the 2013/14 season, where he made 36 appearances and scored six goals for the League One side.

Mark Warburton then brought him to Brentford for the 2014/15 season where he excelled, making 45 appearances and scoring 12 goals for the Bees as they made the play-offs.

Pritchard’s impressive form for Brentford led to a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the UEFA European U21 Championships in the Czech Republic, where despite his call-up, he failed to make an appearance.

With the England U21 international already behind Christian Eriksen in the pecking order at Tottenham and with a change of formation likely before the close of the transfer window, Norwich and Derby have seemingly been alerted to Pritchard’s potential availability as they prepare for a busy final week of the transfer window, with Wolves’s Benik Afobe also under their radar.

Paul Clement’s Derby County have started the season poorly, with four draws from four games, and will want to secure Pritchard’s services in order to provide extra attacking support for Bent, Weimann, Russell and Ince as they look to kick-start their promotion challenge.
