Derby County are close to landing Liverpool winger Harry Wilson on a loan deal, according to the latest update from journalist Alan Nixon.

Rams manager Frank Lampard has been tracking the young winger all summer and will be keen to get the deal over the line, with Derby being given permission to complete a deal for the youngster.

Wilson impressed in a loan spell with Hull City last season and was a target for a number of clubs this summer, including Steven Gerrard's Rangers.

However, it seems that it is Lampard and the Rams who have won the race for the winger, and Wilson will no doubt be keen to complete a move to Pride Park, with first team chances at Anfield likely to be limited once again under Jurgen Klopp.

Wilson can play either wing and was one of the star performers for Hull as they hit form towards the end of the season and comfortably avoided relegation from the Championship.

Derby are working to a tighter budget this season as owner Mel Morris tightens the purse strings following a few seasons of big spending which have failed to yield promotion for the Rams.
