Derby County striker Darren Bent could be on the verge of a move to Championship relegation battlers Burton Albion, according to Alan Nixon.

The former Sunderland and Ipswich Town striker has seen his career take somewhat of a nosedive over the past few seasons, and Rams manager Gary Rowett is keen to offload Bent, who is sat pretty on a fairly hefty contract at Pride Park.

Burton manager Nigel Clough is desperate to odd reinforcements to his squad as he seeks to once again pull the Brewers clear of relegation, and he will see Bent, who has experience of scoring goals at the highest level, exactly the sort of player he could do with.

Bent made his name in the top flight following moves from Ipswich and Charlton respectively, ending up with giants such as Spurs and Aston Villa, and commanding transfer fees in excess of £50m throughout his career.

However, his time with Derby now appears to be coming to and end, although Nixon reports that some of the terms of the loan, most likely wages, could prove to be a sticking point for Clough and Burton as they try and wrap up the deal.

Derby and Brewers, what do you think? Good move all around? Let us know!
