According to Gloucestershire Live, Derby County have handed a trial to Gloucester City defender Keiran Thomas as they run the rule over him ahead of a potential move.

Keiran Thomas has joined the under 23 squad on trial and he is expected to play for the young Rams against Luton Town on Tuesday afternoon.

The 21-year-old is the older brother of Derby youngster Luke Thomas - who is on loan at Gloucester - and he could follow in his brother's footsteps by joining Gary Rowett's side.

At the age of just 20-years-old, Keiran Thomas captained Cinderford Town to the Southern League Division One South and West title and then he joined National League North outfit Gloucester City in summer 2016.

Championship outfit Derby have been regularly scouting the attack-minded right back this season but they might have to move fast as a number of other clubs are also in for him, according to manager Tim Harris.

Tim Harris said:

"Derby have been watching Luke regularly to monitor his progress with us and they have also been very impressed with Keiran.

"They invited him up for a week and he's been absolutely outstanding for us this season.

"He is Mr Consistent and I know a number of other clubs are looking at him too.

"My experience of helping a number of players either into the Football League, or back into it, is that the lad has a great chance."
