Matej Vydra is set for a medical at Burnley, with Nahki Wells expected to move in the opposite direction on-loan to Derby County.

According to Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (07/08, 15:30), Vydra will link up with Burnley on a permanent transfer, whilst part of the deal will see Wells head in the opposite direction to Pride Park.

Both players look set for medicals later today, as the two clubs look to thrash out a deal ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Vydra has been the centre of a number of transfer sagas this summer, with Leeds United one club desperate to get him on board.

Last season, the 26-year-old scored 21 goals in the Championship for Derby, but Leeds failed to agree personal terms with the forward.

Whilst Vydra looks set to complete a move to the Premier League, Wells will make a return to the Championship and link up with Derby.

The ex-Bradford and Huddersfield forward has been with Burnley for just a year, but struggled for opportunities at Turf Moor.

The 28-year-old made just 10 appearances last season for the Clarets, all of which came as a substitute in a hugely frustrating year.

The Verdict

It has seemed for some time that Vydra will seal his move away from Derby, with a move to Burnley now beginning to look inevitable.

For Derby, they are losing their top goalscorer, but in Wells, they are getting their hands on a player more than capable of having an impact in the Championship.

This feels like a good move for both players.
