Derby County boss Gary Rowett has stated that the club is “pleased” with their business during the transfer deadline day.

Derby had signed four players all summer up until deadline day yesterday where they brought in two additional players as Maikel Kieftenbeld and Sam Winnall joined the club.

Rowett sounded especially happy with the latter, Winnall joining the club on a season-long loan describing to the official site that the Sheffield Wednesday forward as having “a real desire to score goals”.

The 26-year-old was part of a deal that saw midfielder Jacob Butterfield go the other way.

Derby have had a fairly average start to the 2017/18 campaign with two wins, one draw, and two losses from their opening five league games putting them 12th in the table on seven points.

The Verdict

Overall Derby have done some good business by bringing the likes of Tom Lawrence and Tom Huddlestone to the club and their deadline day deals are no different.

Winnall is a proven goalscorer who never really got a clear cut and consistent chance at Sheffield Wednesday and Kieftenbeld understands English football well due to his time at Birmingham.

Gary Rowett has plenty of reasons to be happy with the club’s business, now that just needs to show onto the pitch so they can get a string of results together.
