Derby County have won the race to sign Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson on loan, according to reliable football journalist Alan Nixon.

Many clubs were after Wilson, including Leeds United and Stoke City, but Derby appear to have won the race with Nixon confirming it is "all sorted".

The Wales international enjoyed a tremendous spell at Hull City last season after joining the struggling side on loan in January.

Wilson contributed with seven goals and three assists in just 13 games for the Tigers to ease their relegation concerns and now he is set to return to the Championship with Derby.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed on the club's official website that Wilson was close to moving away on loan, having already penned fresh terms this summer, and Derby have won the race.

The Rams are now under the guidance of Frank Lampard, with Nixon speculating that his presence as manager influenced the deal.

After Liverpool snapped up wide man Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City, the 21-year-old winger is now set for another spell in the Championship before trying to break into the Liverpool first-team.

The Verdict

This could well be the signing of the summer in the Championship.

Wilson has a remarkable record in the Championship, scoring seven goals in 11 starts from midfield for a struggling team.

In a high-confidence side, the Welshman could reach the next level and help Derby really push for promotion.
