Following the conclusion of a disappointing campaign, Derby County have recently announced their retained list ahead of the summer.

The Rams suffered play-off heartbreak for yet another year after losing to Aston Villa in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final, subsequently missing out on promotion to the Premier League.

Now, Lampard will look to rebuild his squad ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, and it won't come as a surprise to see the likes of Alex Pearce and Marcus Olsson leaving the club, having made such little impact since the former England international first walked through the doors at Pride Park.

The departures of Ashley Cole and David Nugent would have raised an eyebrow or two though, especially with the latter having such key responsibility in the first-team last term.

Eyebrows will have definitely been raised, however, when the likes of Nick Blackman and Jacob Butterfield weren't named on the retained list, but now, the Derby Telegraph report that both players are set to leave Pride Park this summer, despite their omission on the list.

Blackman arrived at Pride Park with high expectations placed upon his shoulders, having been a prolific goalscorer for Reading in the latter stages of his time at the Madejski Stadium.

But the 29-year-old has since endured a rocky time at Pride Park, and loan spells with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Sporting Gijon have flatter to deceive to say the least.

The forward has hardly done enough to prove to Lampard that he is capable of forcing himself into his first-team plans, scoring just two goals in 17 appearances for Gijon last term, and with Nugent leaving, it looks as if the Rams are set to bolster their attacking options.

Butterfield, meanwhile, is another player who, perhaps unsurprisingly, looks set to leave Derby this term, after a torrid loan spell with Bradford last term.

The experienced midfielder made only 15 appearances for the Bantams last term, and was unable to prevent the Yorkshire club from falling into League Two.

Getting these type of players of the wage bill will be beneficial for Lampard next season, as he looks to reshape his squad and go one step further in their quest for Premier League football.
