According to The Sun, Championship sides Derby County, Leeds United and Reading are interested in signing Brighton forward Tomer Hemed.

The 30-year-old has featured in Brighton’s opening two games of the Premier League season but looks to be on his way out of the club following the Seagulls’ signing of Raphael Dwamena.

Gary Rowett has had a relatively quiet summer transfer window, bringing in only four new players to his side.

Hemed managed 11 goals in 37 league appearances last season as Brighton finished second in the Championship to earn promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

The Israeli striker is in the last year of his contract and with a host of Championship clubs after his signature, it is unlikely he will be a Brighton player after the transfer window closes.

The Verdict

This signing won’t set the world on fire but Derby will be getting a useful player with plenty of experience in the Championship.

The two seasons he spent on the south coast he scored more than ten goals which is a positive sign for the Rams.

Again, not the best signing but not the worst and with Darren Bent injured and both him and David Nugent not getting any younger, bolstering up his side’s attacking options should be a priority for Gary Rowett.

The only real question mark is the price. The report states that Reading has already had a £4 million offer turned down for the striker.

Here at FLW, we wouldn't say the striker is worth any more than that.
