The Sky Bet Championship is once again proving to be one of the world’s most competitive divisions, with a host of different clubs looking to take the step up into the Premier League.

Derby County, as always, have Premier League ambitions, whilst after a strong start, Ipswich Town will also have belief that they can challenge for a return to the top-flight under Mick McCarthy.

The Rams are struggling to make a major impact in the race for the play-offs and currently sit 15th, whilst Ipswich’s strong start sees them sat just outside the play-offs – knowing a victory in their game in hand would see them move into the top-six.

Here at FLW, we believe that both Derby and Ipswich will look to strengthen during the January transfer window, with their respective squads still looking short of the quality required to mount a serious challenge.

One player we believe they should be looking to sign is Erhun Oztumer, who continues to light up League One for Walsall.

Oztumer has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Football League, with his performances for Walsall constantly impressing, with his goal and assist recorded speaking for itself.

The 26-year-old scored 15 goals and added seven assists for Walsall last season, and has continued that form this year, already scoring on five occasions across all competitions.

Both Derby and Ipswich could use a player of Oztumer’s qualities, particularly the former, who appear to be struggling without the creative spark Tom Ince previously provided at the Pride Park Stadium.

Ipswich will also be looking for a player to provide a creative spark to feed their prolific frontline, who have so far impressed in the Championship.
