Derby County’s official website is reporting that David Nugent might miss Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
David Nugent will face a late fitness test to assess whether he is fit enough to feature at Hillsborough this weekend as Gary Rowett’s side prepare for a tough match against 5th place Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently in the middle of a highly contested race for the play-offs.
Nugent has been one of the top performers since Gary Rowett took over at Derby but he sustained a groin injury during the Rams’ 4-0 loss against Brentford on Easter Friday.
This saw him miss the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on Easter Monday and he has sat out of training all week nursing his injury.
However, whether the 31-year-old will return in time for Saturday’s game is “touch and go”, according to Gary Rowett.
As a result, Darren Bent could retain his place in the starting XI against Sheffield Wednesday.
