Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall are leading the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke on loan until the end of the season, according to a report by Football Insider.

The 19-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds United, but after he struggled for game time at Elland Road, Spurs are looking to send him out on loan again and a number of Championship clubs understood to be interested in him.

Football Insider claim that Middlesbrough, Fulham, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest are all keen on signing Clarke, but it is the trio of Derby, QPR and Millwall who are currently leading the chase to sign him.

Clarke came through the academy at Leeds and was able to establish himself as one of the best young players in the Championship last season, scoring two goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The highly-rated attacker joined Tottenham in the summer, for a reported fee of around £10million, but he was immediately sent back to Leeds on loan to allow him to gain more experience in the Championship.

However, things didn't work out for Clarke after he returned to Elland Road and after making just one league appearance for Leeds, he was recalled by Spurs.

The Verdict

Jack Clarke is a very talented footballer and he'd be a great signing for any of these clubs in my opinion.

Things didn't work out for him after he returned to Leeds, but let's not forget that he was one of the most exciting young players in the Championship last season.

He's more than capable of making an impact at this level, but he needs to be experiencing regular first-team football in order to realise his full potential. With so many clubs interested in him, it'll be very interesting to see where he ends up.
