Championship duo Derby County and Hull City have been handed a significant boost in their quest to land Liverpool’s Ryan Kent, as the young winger is open to a loan move reports The Coventry Telegraph.

The 20-year-old came up through the youth ranks at Anfield before earning his senior debut for the club back in January 2016, when he started their FA Cup third round clash at Exeter City.

However, he has since been unable to add to that solitary first team appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but has recently penned a new deal with the Premier League giants after impressing during pre-season.

In fact, the England Under-20 star impressed boss Klopp so much that the Liverpool chief hinted that Kent could remain at the club this season, but recent comments from the winger himself suggests that he would consider a loan move to get regular football, which will surely put Derby and Hull on alert.

He said: ‘It’s about getting game time, whether that’s here or on loan.

‘Wherever I am, I want to be among the team and don’t want to halt my progression as a player.

‘If that means going on loan to get game time, then that’s what it’ll be.’

These comments are sure to hand a huge boost to interested parties Derby and Hull, both of whom have been repeatedly linked with a move for Kent in a bid to bolster their respective attacking options.

Gary Rowett has seen prized assets Will Hughes and Tom Ince leave the club this summer, so will surely be looking to strengthen his forward ranks, while Leonid Slutsky has seen several first teamers leave the KCOM Stadium during the close season, and will likely be thinking how he can deepen his squad for the rest of the campaign.

And it appears that the former Barnsley and Coventry loanee would be open to a loan move, but whether the aforementioned Championship duo are able to get a deal done remains to be seen.

The Verdict: Liverpool’s Ryan Kent seriously impressed on loan at Barnsley last term, netting three goals and laying on three assists in 44 league appearances to help Paul Heckingbottom’s side finish 17th upon their return to the second tier.

And the England youngster stepped it up another level during pre-season to the point that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hinted that he might stay at the club, but following the signing of a new deal at Anfield, Kent recognises that first team football is imperative for his development.

And it’s fair to say that he’s not likely to get that at Liverpool, but his willingness and desire to drop down a division to play is refreshing, and must be a huge boost to Derby and Hull.

But only time will tell whether they do indeed move for Kent.
