Millwall were dealt a major blow today after it was revealed that Byron Webster had suffered a serious knee injury.
The club confirmed the news with a tweet and it told how the big defender underwent surgery yesterday having ruptured a cruciate ligament.

Given the serious nature of the injury, it would be surprising to see Webster feature again this season.
Webster had featured in all but one of Millwall’s league games this season and had built up a very steady partnership with Shaun Hutchinson in defence.
Jake Cooper is the obvious candidate to step in for the ex-Yeovil man but it does leave the Lions very short in cover now, so a centre-back is sure to be a priority for Neil Harris when the window opens.
Millwall fans responded to the bad news on Twitter, with many sending out messages of support for their injured player.
Gutting for Webster been superb for 2 years, just leaves us short on what was a very small squad already

Gutted for the big man. Been quality this season.

Agree Webster will be a miss… cooper is more then capable of replacing him & maybe we won’t see the long ball upto Morison as much now….

Bad news. Worth remembering that Cooper and Hutchinson were excellent against Forest. All is not lost.

Bad, bad news. Although Copper is an excellent replacement, Webster has been immense this year.
