Callum McManaman has delivered an emotional message to Wigan Athletic fans on social media, after it was confirmed that club will not be renewing his contract.

Wigan announced their retained list today, with McManaman being named as one of the players who will depart the club in the summer.

The 28-year-old made 24 appearances for the Latics in all competitions this season, after re-signing for the club on a one-year deal from Sunderland last summer.

McManaman posted this message on his personal Twitter feed, thanking the fans for their continued support throughout his time at the club.

The winger went on to say that he did not regret re-signing for Wigan and wished his teammates all the best for next season, calling them the best group he has played with.

McManaman started his career for Wigan and scored 17 goals in 109 appearances during his first spell for the club, helping them win the FA Cup in 2013, before leaving to join West Brom in 2015.

The Verdict:

McManaman has been an important player for Wigan over the years and I'm sure fans will be sad to see him leave the club.

I'm sure Wigan fans will appreciate this message from McManaman and will be grateful for what he did for the club.

With his immediate future now uncertain, it will be interesting to see where the player goes from here.
