According to the Daily Mirrorâs David Anderson, Garry Monk looks set to become Middlesbroughâs next manager, following his shock exit from Leeds United yesterday afternoon.
Leeds released a statement yesterday confirming the club had âreluctantly acceptedâ Monkâs resignation as head-coach, despite wanting to offer the 38-year old a long-term contract.
Andrea Radrizzani planned to activate a 12-month extension on Monkâs deal at Elland Road, with the view of discussing a longer contract, however, his agent requested Leeds not to do this.
Anderson believes Monk is now heading for the Riverside Stadium, to manage Boro, who will be competing alongside Leeds in the Sky Bet Championship next season.
It has also been reported that Monk has turned Leedsâ advances down because he feels that Boro are a âbetter bet to win promotion to the Premier Leagueâ during the 2017/18 campaign.
Boro have been without a permanent manager since March, when they sacked Aitor Karanka, who is incidentally the favourite to replace Monk at Elland Road.
