Experienced striker Deon Burton has signed a new one-year deal with Scunthorpe United, the club has confirmed on the official website.
37-year-old was vital part of the Scunthorpe team which won the promotion from the League Two last season and has expressed his delight in extending his stay with the North Lincolnshire club.
“It’s great to finally sign a contract. I’ve been away since agreeing it a couple of weeks ago. Everything was in place and I just had to come back up and sign it. It’s a one year deal and it will be in League One this time, which will be great.
“Everyone has agreed new terms and that’s because it’s a club where good things are happening. It’s great to keep the core from last year and, with a few new additions, I think we’ll be alright.
“It’s good, because everyone knows each other. There isn’t a whole new squad coming in, which usually means that time is needed to gel. We know each other and have played together for a whole year. Now it’s just a case of going out there and doing what we know we can do.”
England-born Jamaican international won the League Two title with Gillingham in 2013. He played for 13 different clubs in his career including Portsmouth, Derby County, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United.
