Blackpool made easy work of near-neighbours Morecambe last night with a rout in the EFL Trophy.

Simon Grayson's squad depth was evident as a strong side despatched the League Two team with a 5-1 victory. Not only that, but they had five different scorers, two of whom are on loan from Premier League sides in Scotland and England. It was a good night for the fringe players looking to stake a claim for a League One start.

Ben Heneghan of Sheffield United opened the rout before veteran Kevin Ellison drew the visitors level. Blackpool went in 2-1 to the good at the break courtesy of a goal by Michael Nottingham, but upped the level after the break.

Sully Kaikai, Joe Nuttall and Ryan Hardie all bagged in a one-sided second period, with Hardie goal warmly received both at Bloomfield Road and Ibrox.

22-year-old Hardie signed from Glasgow Rangers and scored his first goal in English football, much to the delight of Gers fans. They flocked to Twitter after the game to express their feelings at seeing their striker get off the mark at Blackpool.
