Speaking to the EFL’s official website, Neil Warnock has dedicated his Manager of the Month award to Cardiff City and the club’s supporters.

Warnock has been with Cardiff for little under a year now, and has transformed the Bluebirds from relegation favourites into promotion contenders in that time.

Cardiff are the only club in the Sky Bet Championship with a 100% record so far this season, with Warnock’s men sweeping aside Burton Albion, Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers during the first five fixtures.

Warnock has now been rewarded for Cardiff’s fine start to the season with August’s manager of the month award, and the 68-year-old was quick to praise the club following his personal achievement, he said: “This is an achievement for all of us at the club, from the top to the bottom. We’ve made some good signings and integrated them quickly into the group, which isn’t always easy.

“I’m delighted with the award - for the whole club and our fantastic fans.”

One of Warnock’s summer signings has also been rewarded for Cardiff’s fine start to the season, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing landing the Player of the Month award for August, following a fast start to life in the Championship.

Mendez-Laing has scored five goals across all competitions, including four from his first five appearances in the Championship for the Bluebirds.

Warnock’s side will be looking to maintain their 100% record in the Championship over the coming week, with the Bluebirds facing three fixtures in the space of seven days.

Cardiff face trips to Fulham and Preston North End on Saturday and Tuesday respectively, before returning to Wales to face Sheffield Wednesday the following weekend.

The Verdict

It was hard to looks past the Cardiff City duo for August’s awards, with both fully deserving of the recognition following a tremendous start to the 2017/18 campaign.

Warnock has done an exceptional job at Cardiff over the last year, and it would be no surprise to see the Bluebirds now continue to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.

Cardiff face a difficult task of maintaining their 100% record over the coming week, with Warnock’s side challenged with three testing fixtures.
