Middlesbrough have parted company with Jonathan Woodgate, with Neil Warnock now taking the reins at the Riverside Stadium.

It has been a hugely disappointing campaign for Boro under Woodgate, with their former defender winning only nine games in charge after being appointed as Tony Pulis' successor in the summer.

Ahead of the final eight games of the season, Boro sit 21st in the Championship, and sit outside of the relegation zone only on goal difference, after losing 3-0 at home to Swansea City at the weekend.

Boro have now confirmed that Woodgate has been relieved of his duties by the club, and the experienced Neil Warnock will be taking charge on Teesside immediately.

Warnock had been out of work since leaving Cardiff City in November, after a poor start to life back in the Championship

Warnock has worked wonders with the likes of Cardiff and Rotherham in the past, guiding them both to safety when the chips looked to be down for those clubs.

The 71-year-old has also managed 1,481 games in his career, and will be looking to steer Boro away from the relegation zone as soon as possible.
