Conor Grant has today put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract at Sheffield Wednesday.

The club confirmed the 17-year-old’s milestone occasion that every football aspires to earn.

Grant has been impressive for the U18s this season, who are top of their respective league, and has impressed coach Andy Holdsworth since his arrival two years ago.

Arriving from Shamrock Rovers after a successful trial at the start of the 201617 campaign, the Irishman has impressed during his time in Yorkshire and has improved considerably to earn his first professional deal.

Despite the doom and gloom around Hillsborough at present, the confirmation of the midfielder’s new deal shows that the club has a promising future ahead of them.

Wednesday have shown there is a clear path for progression to the first-team with academy products making their way there, and that could be set to continue with the abundance of talent they have in their academy.

After committing his future to the Championship club, Grant spoke to the club’s official media to express his delight.

“I’m really happy that the hard work has paid off,’ Grant said.

“Young lads at Wednesday are getting opportunities in the first team, so I just want to keep working hard and see what happens.”

Owls fans were pleased with this development and took to social media to express their feelings on the news.

With that said, here’s how the Sheffield Wednesday supporters reacted on Twitter to Grant’s contract news.
