Queens Park Rangers midfielder Charlie Owens has agreed a new two-year deal with the club which will keep him at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium until 2021, as confirmed by the Hoops' official website.

The 21-year-old made his first appearance of the season on Tuesday in the club's penalty shoot-out victory over Bristol City in the Carabao Cup first round.

Loaned out by the Hoops to Wycombe Wanderers for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign, Owens featured on two occasions in League One for Gareth Ainsworth's side.

Already a Northern Ireland under-21 international, the midfielder will now be aiming to break into the R's starting eleven in the not too distant future.

Speaking to the club's website about his new deal, Owens said: "I'm delighted.

"The club showed faith in me during pre-season and have done so again with this new contract, so I want to repay that and earn my place in this team.

"I had a really good pre-season and I've tried to impress Neil (Banfield), the gaffer, Eusty (John Eustace) and Chris (Ramsey) too.

"I've developed during my time here and I want to kick on even more and show the staff that I'm a good player."

After the club announced on Twitter that Owens had signed a new contract, some QPR fans reacted to the news in a positive manner.
